Comedians make an advent calendar of festive shorts for Dave

Twenty-four comedians are to make short festive films for the Dave channel, creating a virtual advent calendar.

The daily comedy shorts will run for the first 24 days of December, featuring the likes of Jon Richardson, Sally Phillips, Ross Noble, Kerry Godliman and Josh Widdicombe.

Romesh Ranganathan will explain how he hates all Christmas presents;  Geoff Norcott will share his ‘woke and non-woke’ festive thoughts; Natasia Demetriou will tell how the season makes her horny; and Andrew Maxwell will speak about how he really hates turkey.

Other comics taking part in Dave’s Advent Calendar include Nick Helm, Dane Baptiste, Ed Gamble, Nina Conti, Seb Cardinal and Dustin Burns, Ken Cheng, Tom Craine, Beattie Edmondson, Sofie Hagen, Darren Harriott, Kerry Howard, Cariad Lloyd, Zoe Lyons, Rachel Parris and Angelos Epithemiou.

The two-minute clips will be broadcast at 9pm daily, concluding  on Christmas Eve with a unique version of Ding Dong Merrily On High.

Commissioning editor Joe McVey said: ‘I’m really pleased to say that this year Dave is offering up an advent calendar with 24 actual human people lurking behind the doors. It’s so much better than the ones with chocolate or the ones with lame pictures of snow people. Unless you really like chocolate.’

Executive producer and director Steve Wynne said: ‘Dave’s Advent Calendar includes a nativity scene made of sushi, a vicar being shouted at, and a fist up a turkey.  Merry Christmas.’
