Comedian and political commentator Geoff Norcott was raised on a council estate in the London Borough of Merton, and has spoken about how his outlook was shaped by his Labour-supporting parents, both of whom were disabled. Norcott has an English degree from Goldsmiths, University of London and worked as an English Teacher before entering comedy, with is first performance in 2001, initially as a means to supplement his teaching income. He became an established circuit act, coming to prominence when he spoke about being a Tory-supporting Brexiteer, a rare stance in comedy, at around the time of the 2016 referendum on EU membership. Appearances include Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo, Question Time and Times Radio, where he is a regular host.
