Singers meet the comics ribbing them

comedyWhen promoting their new show in which they play fictionalised versions of crooners Alfie Boe and Michael Ball, comics John Kearns and Adam Riches were very careful to point out that they weren’t being TOO critical – and for one very good reason.

‘If you did a show about Beyoncé, she’s not hearing about it. You’re not getting a DM from someone going "oh yeah I saw her yesterday, do you want to know when she’s coming to see it?",’ Kearns told the Guardian. ‘The reason I’m constantly saying how good [Ball and Boe] are is that we might at any moment hear their knock on the dressing room door!’

Well, that day came this week when the two stars did visit the Soho Theatre to watch the five-star show – and popped into the dressing room afterwards.

Kearns joked: 'It was a pleasure for Michael and Alfie to meet us. We look forward to taking up their offer to perform with them at the O2.’

And Riches said: ‘It was like performing in front of a mirror’.

Chortle has asked the singers' representatives what they thought of the show… but, as yet, no response.

Adam Riches and John Kearns ARE ‘Ball & Boe’ runs until January 7.
