Rhys James releases a DVD
It may be a dying medium, but Rhys James is releasing his next stand-up special on DVD.
But it will be a very limited edition – just one copy – which he will make available in just one charity shop, priced 50p.
The comic said: ‘Any "so-called comedian" with a tripod can have a special these days. But only the most famous comics in the country have DVDs.
‘So in order to join them, I'm doing the same and releasing a DVD of my own. Exactly one. Into the only place you can still buy stand-up DVDs, a random mystery charity shop.’
James will provide clues on social media as to which shop he’s placed the Live Humour! DVD and has generously agreed to match the proceeds of the sale in a donation to the charity shop.
For an easier way to watch his stand-up, the comedian is also releasing his latest show Spilt Milk as a stream.
Filmed at London’s Wilton’s Music Hall last year, the special will be available from his website on November 7 priced £5, or £4 for pre-orders.
He said: ‘It’s always been my dream to release a direct-to-fans streamable special on my website, ever since Netflix said no.’
