When Richard Herring and Stewart Lee almost wrote for Little and Large

Sadly their sketch was rejected

comedyIt sounds unlikely, but Richard Herring and Stewart Lee could once have Little and Large.

The pair submitted material for the old-school double act’s BBC show in 1990, but it was turned down as being ‘unsuitable’.

Among their ideas was one sketch involving Eddie Large eating a hot dog at the seaside, but the sausage flying out and into Syd Little's snorkel.

Herring has unearthed the rejection letter he and his erstwhile comedy partner received, and has put it for sale on ebay, where bidding stands at £67 at the time of writing.

He said they were not entirely serious about getting material on the Little and Large show, but some sketches were ‘broad enough to possibly be included as we could have done with the money’.

The comic joked on X: ‘That Little and Large letter should be in a museum! But all the museums rejected it.’

He has put a number of items on ebay, also including a prototype for a Right Bollock finger puppet. Bid here.
