Jess Phillips attends Spitting Image first night
Labour MP Jess Phillips clearly bears no grudge against Spitting Image for depicting her in a sketch branded misogynist.
The Birmingham Yardley MP attended the opening night of the puppet satire’s stage show in her home town tonight, and seemed to be enjoying the political barbs.
And they even included a portrayal of her caricature going toe-to-toe with her party’s deputy leader Angela Rayner.
Later, she tweeted how honoured she was to be parodied:
The honour of my life. Even better than when I was a clue in arrow word in take a break. @AngelaRayner and I schooling the world on the difference between the midlands and the north. https://t.co/9RQHzZKaYn

In November 2021, the TV version of the show depicted Phillips as Viral, a superhero who uses her 'big vag' and 'big tits' to fight crime.
Her character stepped in after Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer - presented as 'Fox Man' - fails to stop a man being robbed of his scooter at night.
She then pulls a chainsaw, referred to as her 'big Labour vag', and chops the man's scooter in half, then tells him he 'should not be riding a scooter like a baby’ and taunting him: 'You wanna suck some fucking milk from my big Labour tits?'
Comedian Rachel Parris was one of those who condemned the sketch – which official Spitting Image accounts posted online – calling it 'fucking horrible'.
She tweeted: ‘Many good friends work on Spitting Image so I’m not keen to have a go at it but wtf is this? Depicting the female politician utilising her "big vag" and inviting ppl to milk her"big tits". This is a female politician who has incidentally been subject to rape and death threats…’
Writer Mollie Goodfellow tweeted: ‘The optics of people interrupting a crime at night… and then including overtly grim sexualised "joke" references is a bit, uhhhh.’
The MP did not comment on the clip at the time it aired on Britbox, but it was said to be particularly insensitive given the tsunami of misogynistic abuse she receives online, once telling how she was bombarded by 600 rape threats in a single night.
