85,000 fans bid for 110 tickets for Michael McIntyre warm-up gig

Michael McIntyre is more used to playing arenas than a 110-seat theatre.

So when the comic announced a work-in-progress gig at the Old Town Hall in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, next week, it’s no wonder it was overwhelmed with demand.

But even they were surprised when more than 85,000 people tried to snap up the £15 tickets for the intimate show.

The theatre said all the tickets were being held in online baskets within 10 seconds of next Tuesday’s show going on sale at noon yesterday. And all the sales were completed in under five minutes.

‘We have been overwhelmed with the response from customers wanting to book tickets to see Michael McIntyre and only a lucky few managed it,’ a spokesperson said.  ‘Well done to those people, we hope you enjoy the show.’
