Madonna With The Big Boobies falls under the hammer

Allo Allo prop up for auction

comedyIt was a the centre of countless convoluted schemes on Allo Allo. Now The Fallen Madonna With The Big Boobies is going under the hammer in – where else? – Bristol.

East Bristol Auctions have put a £5,000 to £10,000 estimate on the iconic painting by Old Master van Klomp.

Several copies off the ‘masterpiece’ were made for the 1980s sitcom, but many were destroyed or damaged during filming.

The auctioneers say that the version being offered is the only one to survive all nine series. It was originally given to production designer Shaun Moore for his work on the sitcom.  He auctioned the textured print for charity in 2007 for around £4,000.

East Bristol Auctions believe this is the prop used in the final episode A Winkle In Time. The final scene was set in 1985, 40 years after the rest of the series,  and showed Rene and Helga reunited the Madonna with her 'missing booby’. This part of the painting being auctioned is indeed removable and it has a frame that carries a small brass plaque reading: 'The Fallen Madonna With The Big Boobies - Van Clomp - (1453-1507) - Restored 1985 Nouvion.'

It goes under the hammer here on December 1, with bidding starting at £2,700.
