Michael Whitehall accused of being an actor

Jack Whitehall’s father Michael is enjoying new-found fame thanks to their double act on telly  shows such as Backchat and Travels With My Father.

But not everyone is convinced that their on-screen relationship is genuine, as Whitehall Sr found out this week.

He was outside his dry cleaners’ in Kensington when a van driver recognised him, he told Chortle at a screening of his son’s new Sky 1 comedy-thriller Bounty Hunters last night.

 ‘Oi… you’re that actor who plays Jack Whitehall’s dad,’ the fan exclaimed excitedly.

Outraged at the suggestion he was an actor, Michael told him, entirely in keeping with his on-screen irascibility  to ‘fuck off!’

‘But I bet you wish you were, right?’ the driver replied…
