Hannibal Buress sends a lookalike to the Spiderman premiere
Promoting movies can be a drag for any performer.
But comedian Hannibal Buress found a way of getting out of the premiere of the new Spiderman Homecoming film… by sending along a lookalike.
He advertised for a stand-in at last night's red-carpet event on Twitter, saying: 'L.A I need a lookalike with solid comedic timing for an event tonight. Pays $500 (£380).'
Budding actor Joe Carroll stepped up to the plate, and convinced most people he was the real deal. He got past security, posed for pictures with fans and did interviews as Buress. Even respected photo agencies captioned their pictures from the red carpet as if he was the comedian .
Carroll even featured on the official video streamed from the event, but was exorised from the footage later.
Here is being interviewed on the red carpet as Buress:
Carroll posted instagram shots from the Hollywood event, including the hashtag: '#weAllLookAlikeRight'.
Strangely, when Burress put out his call for the doppelgänger, he had to use the email address hanniballlookalike3@gmail,com.
'Yes, hanniballlookalike1 and hanniballlookalike2 were taken,' he wrote on Twitter. 'And I think it's weird.'
Buress plays Coach Wilson in the movie which stars Tom Holland – son of stand-up Dominic Holland – as the superhero, alongside Michael Keaton and Robert Downey Jr.
