Funny Women awards announce their 2021 prizes

Plus a tie-up with safe workplace charity Time’s Up

Funny Women has announced the prizes in this year’s competition.

All the finalists in the stage award will take part in a national tour, with producers Mick Perrin International offering one act a place on its agency roster, producing and underwriting an Edinburgh Fringe run, The winner will also get a photoshoot with leading comedy photographer Steve Ullathorne.

Heat magazine will highlight the finalists of the public-chosen ‘content creator’ award online and in print, while NextUp Comedy will give a content deal for the winner of the short film category.

And for the comedy writing award, Sky Studios is offering a funded development deal.

Winners will also get £1,000 cash and a necklace from jewellery maker Tatty Devine.

Funny Women is also partnering with safe workplace charity Time’s Up  for this year’s competition. Founder Lynne Parker said: ‘Talent should be the priority in the selection process, not sexual favours. If we are to have true parity in the comedy industry, we have to make sure that all female identifying artists can travel and perform in safety.’

Entries for this year’s competition close at www.funnywomen.com on June 30, and the final will take place at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London on September 23.
