Funny Women 2025 open for entries

Now sponsored by the BBC's Funny Parts digital channel

This year’s Funny Women awards have opened for entries, with BBC Studios’ digital comedy channel Funny Parts announced as the main sponsor.

The talent hunt, which started in 2003, has categories for stage comedians, comedy writing, Comedy Shorts and content creators. Each comes with a £1,000 cash prize and mentorships.

Jasmine Dawson from BBC Studios said: ‘We are excited to support the Funny Women Awards this year. In a male-dominated industry, it’s crucial to champion and uplift female comedians, and BBC Studios digital brands is dedicated to providing a platform for diverse, emerging voices.

‘These awards offer a unique opportunity to highlight the incredible talent of women in comedy, allowing them to break through and make their mark.’

Registration for most categories close on June 1, or August 25 for content creators, with the final taking place at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London on September 25.

The awards were launched with an event at the London Comedy Store on Tuesday night with a line-up, pictured above, featuring the likes of Kerry Godliman, Kate Cheka, Lorna Rose Treen, Sophie McCartney and Hayley Morris
