Famous for playing squeaky-voiced Laverne Hooks

Marion Ramsey, who played squeaky-voiced Laverne Hooks in the Police Academy movies, has died at the age of 73.

Her agents, Roger Paul Inc, said she died at her Los Angeles home on Thursday morning  but did not give a cause of death.

The company said in a statement: ‘Her passion for performing and sharing her heart with the world was immense.

‘Marion carried with her a kindness and permeating light that instantly filled a room upon her arrival. The dimming of her light is already felt by those who knew her well. We will miss her, and always love her.’ 

Her Police Academy  co-star Michael Winslow tweeted: I have no words to say or explain the pain of all of those we lost. Only that we feel it and understand..... and it still hurts. ‘’

As well five Police Academy films,  Ramsey  had an illustrious career on Broadway and was a regular on Cos, Bill Cosby's sketch show.
