Leicester festival announces its shortlists

A series of comedy awards has nominated its own judges for an accolade.

The panel of 16 comedy fans that draws up the shortlists of comedians and venues at the Leicester Comedy Festival Awards were today announced among their own nominees.

They are up for the gong for outstanding contribution to the event, alongside all its volunteers and sponsors Red Monkey and Versatile Venues.

This year’s festival claimed a 30 per cent boost in box office sales and a 14 per cent increase in the number of comics taking part, to 695.
