Comic Ed picks up an award

Irish-born, English-based Ed Byrne has won a Scottish entertainment award.

The Mock The Week regular won the Fringe Recognition Award at the annual awards handed out by Edinburgh radio station Forth One.

He also performed a stand-up set as he collected his accolade at the city’s Usher Hall yesterday.

Byrne said: ‘Scotland is hugely important to me… I did my first gig in Glasgow, second professional gig in Edinburgh and met my wife here.’
