Four huge animated comedies renewed to 2029

The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob's Burgers and American Dad!

Four new season have been ordered of each of the long-running US animated comedies The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers  and American Dad!

All will be returning to the Fox network – in American’s Dad!’s case after 11 years on other broadcasters – in what Fox called a ‘meganimation deal.’

Trade website Deadline reports that each new season will comprise 15 episodes, and take each show into 2029.

The renewals take Bob’s Burgers, to its 19th season, Family Guy to its 27th, American Dad! to its 23rd and The Simpsons – already the longest-running scripted primetime series in television history - to its 40th.

Last year, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers ranked as two of the top 10 most streamed shows in America, with 42 billion and 37 billion minutes viewed, respectively

Michael Thorn, president of Fox Television Network, said: ‘This new deal celebrates the eternal popularity of these iconic comedies.’

And Marci Proietto, head of 20th Television Animation, added: ‘This historic four-season order from our longtime partners at Fox is truly monumental for these iconic animated series.

‘We are so proud that these legendary shows will continue for hundreds of more episodes, allowing new and longstanding fans to watch, rewatch and experience more of The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad and Bob’s Burgers for years to come.’

In the UK, Bob’s Burgers is screened on ITV2 with the other shows premiering new episodes on Disney+ and older episodes of The Simpsons on E4 and Family Guy and American Dad! on ITV2
