Tape Face announces Edinburgh Fringe return
Some of the first shows revealed for 2025
TapeFace is returning to the Edinburgh Fringe this year, 20 years after he first came to prominence at the festival.
The Kiwi performer – real name Sam Wills – will be back at the 800-seat Pleasance Grand for a 12-night run of his latest physical comedy show, ending on August 10.
It is one of a small batch of Pleasance shows going on sale today, more than a month before the official Fringe box office opens for business.
For the second half of the festival, Tape Face’s 7.30pm Grand slot will go to a new show from Australian workplace comedy duo Wankernomics, aka Charles Firth and James Schloeffel
Also returning are festival stalwarts Paul Merton & Suki Webster’s Improv Show – also in the Grand from the 7th to 17th – and Showstopper! The Improvised Music, in the same venue for the full run.
And comedy mathematician Matt Parker – one of the Festival Of The Spoken Word team – presents Getting Triggy With It: Matt Parker Does The Maths in Pleasance Beyond.
Tickets for all the comedy shows are on sale here.
Miriam Margolyes is also making a return, playing the Pleasance EICC from August 9 to 24.
As with last year’s show, Margolyes & Dickens: More Best Bits will feature readings of classic scenes from the Victorian writers’ novels, follows by the actress fielding questions from the audience about her life.
Margolyes, 84, said that the 2025 show was the ‘same old cunt, even older, but so enjoying the thought of another go with Mr. Dickens...and you! It could be the last time, but don't bank on it!’
Last year marked her return to the Fringe for the first time since 2012.
The announcement of her Edinburgh run also revealed the news that she has her own podcast in the pipeline, although no further details were revealed.
Tickets for her show are on sale here.
The very first Fringe show of 2025 to go on sale was Will Mars' long-running Joke Thieves format, which released tickets back in November.
The first official batch of shows going on sale from the Edinburgh Fringe box office on March 12.
