Kathy Rivett is our latest student finalist

Comedian triumphs at York semi

Kathy Rivett has won the penultimate semi-final of this year’s Chortle Student Comedy Award. 

The 19-year-old is studying illustration with animation at Manchester Met University and last year took part in the televised semi-finals of the BBC New Comedy Award.

After winning the semi-final in York, she now goes forward to compete in the final at the Edinburgh Fringe, as well as taking part in a showcase at the Comedy Arena at the Latitude festival.

The last semi-final is at The Gaffe Comedy Club in Bristol on Thursday, compered by Burt Williamson and featuring   Hero Bain, Anna George, Sofia Lambis, Rosie Brown, Liz Johnson, Luc Fawcett, Aruntheny Kularaj, Maria Pollard, Lucia Moussalli. Tickets are available here.
