Fiona Allen announces her first stand-up tour
Smack The Pony star Fiona Allen, has announced her first stand-up tour.
The comic has announced 16 dates for her show On The Run this autumn after debuting it at the Edinburgh Fringe.
She says she took up stand-up as she wanted to do something for herself after years of being a working mum with three kids, all now young adults.
On The Run charts that decision as well as ‘her thoughts on family, marriage, sex robots, passive-aggressive school mums and supermarket dress codes’.
In her youth, Allen was box office manager at legendary Manchester nightclub the Haçienda before finding fame as star and co-writer of the Channel 4 sketch show Smack the Pony. Her other credits include Skins, Waterloo Road and EastEnders and she started performing stand-up a couple of years ago.
Her husband – described as a ‘man who still can’t operate the washing machine’ in the blurb for On The Run – is the son of talk show legend Sir Michael Parkinson, and is also called Mike.
Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday.
