Micky Flanagan claims an O2 record
Micky Flanagan has a broken a record, for cramming a bigger audience into London’s O2 Arena than anybody else.
The comic packed 17,257 fans into the Greenwich landmark, a record for a seated show with the usual comedy layout with the stage at one end of the venue.
Previously, Russell Peters claimed the biggest ever comedy audience in the UK – by selling 15,924 tickets at the O2 in 2009 – just a 24 more than Chris Rock sold at the same venue in the previous year.
Flanagan’s record audience came during his nine-night residency at The O2, which has just ended with a total of 149,557 fans.
During his If Ever We Needed It… tour, he also set similar records at the Bournemouth International Centre, with 4,045 seats sold, and at The Utilita Arena in Birmingham, although no figures were given for that.
