Fresh health scare for Bob Mortimer
Bob Mortimer has had another health scare, revealing that he ended up in hospital at the weekend.
The 63-year-old said he was ‘not very healthy right now’ after being taken unwell after a couple of days filming his angling show with Paul Whitehouse.
Mortimer had a triple heart bypass operation seven years ago after he was diagnosed with coronary heart disease – leading him to live a more healthy lifestyle. His fishing trips with Whitehouse, now a hit BBC Two show, were originally part of his recovery.
Although he was taken back to hospital on Saturday, he was well enough to record Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre Podcast on Monday where he opened up about his health.
He told the host: ‘I am not very well’ before revealing his hospital admission, adding: ‘I am sorry, I should not have said that, should I? It’s a real downer.
‘I did a show last week, a fishing show, and there was only two and a half days filming and I did it Tuesday, Wednesday and half of Thursday and I was in hospital on the Saturday.
In comments reported across the media, he also said that t his rheumatoid arthritis returned this month, 29 years after it disappeared.
Mortimer said: ‘It is really sad for me to know whether it will go. Yes I might be fat but actually, I am on steroids.’
His comments were apparently noted by someone in the audience as the podcast has yet to be released.
