Comedians to take part in the Commonwealth Games*

Comedians Darren Harriott, Russell Kane, Tom Rosenthal and  Suzi Ruffell are to take to part in a celebrity version of the Commonwealth Games.

As actual athletes compete in Birmingham from later this week, the stars will also be competing in front of live crowds at the same venues for the BBC One show.

The All-Star Games will be raising money for Sport Relief and feature teams led by captains Dame Kelly Holmes and Ellie Simmonds.

It will be hosted by  Emma Willis and Jermaine Jenas, who said: ‘Throughout my career, I’ve seen how sport can bring people together and create positive change and Sport Relief does just that. The power sport has beyond the pitch or arena is phenomenal and it’s fantastic to see Birmingham 2022 team up with Sport Relief to raise money this summer. ‘

The other competitors confirmed so far are: sport presenter Mike Bushell; former Love Island winner and presenter Kem Cetinay; freestyle football world champion Liv Cooke; former rugby union international Thom Evans; snowboarder and broadcaster Aimee Fuller; rower Helen Glover; singer and presenter Una Healy; singer and songwriter HRVY; BBC Asian Network DJ  Noreen Khan; TV personalityFerne McCann; TV presenter Steph McGovern; commentator and former racing driver Billy Monger; former England Rugby Union star Ugo Monye; Olympic curler Eve Muirhead; Sky News presenter Dermot Murnaghan; author and Invictus Games athlete Mark Ormrod; TV personality Vicky Pattison; Paralympic runners Jonnie Peacock; TV presenter Mark Rhodes; former England rugby union captain Chris Robshaw;  long jumper Greg Rutherford; musician and presenter George Shelley; former Wales rugby star Gareth Thomas; former Love Islander Ovie Soko; Capital radio presenter Sian Welby; Paralympic Gold medal runner Richard Whitehead; gymnast Max Whitlock and BBC Radio 1 DJ Rickie Haywood Williams.

The action will take place across Lee Valley Velopark for cycling, Alexander Stadium for sthletics, Arena Birmingham for Rhtythmic gymnastics, Smithfield for basketball 3x3 and the NEC Arena for table tennis.
