
Dhinawan Baker is officially Deadly Funny
Queenslander takes Australia's First Nations comedy title
Dhinawan Baker has won this year's Deadly Funny title for First Nations comedians at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
The stand-up – descendant of the Gamillaroi Bigambul tribe in Queensland – took the title ahead of five other performers at the city’s Arts Centre.
Yindyamarra Johnson and Errolyn Strang, both from New South Wales, were named runners-up
Also taking part were Matthew Bonson (Garramilla NT), Daniel Newchurch (Guuranda SA), Teresa Moore (Naarm VIC), Kimberley Benjamin (Rubibi WA) and Ngaire Pigram (Rubibi WA).
The final was hosted by Kevin Kropinyeri, a former winner of the title.
