Broadcasting Press Guild 2022 winners announced
Rose Matafeo, Alma’s Not Normal and Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing have all scooped honours at the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards.
Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse won the best entertainment award for the third time for their angling show, while Matafeo won the breakthrough category for her romcom, Starstruck
Alma’s Not Normal was named best comedy, adding to creator Sophie Willan’s Bafta last year for best comedy writer
It’s A Sin won best drama series and its creator, Russell T. Davies won best writer; while A Very British Scandal was voted best drama mini-series and its star Claire Foy won best actress.
The awards are chosen by critics and journalists who write about TV and radio. Broadcasting Press Guild chair Grant Tucker said: '2021 was a fantastic year for British television. The industry bounced back from the worst days of the pandemic with record levels of investment and programming, and our winners announced today are testimony to that creative explosion.
'It is also evident that, despite reports of their death, our public service broadcasters are very much alive and thriving.'
