Rufus Hound to star in The Good Life
Rufus Hound is set to star in a stage version of The Good Life, it has been announced today.
The comic and stage star will play Tom Good, the role originally made famous by Richard Briers. Other cast members are yet to be announced.
Theatre director Jeremy Sams has adapted John Esmonde and Bob Larbey’s original scripts for a UK tour, which kicks off in Bath in October and ends at Chichester in December.
This will be the first time that the sitcom characters will be seen on stage.
The show was originally scheduled to open last summer, with Katherine Parkinson as Barbara Good, but was postponed by Covid.
The comedy, about a suburban couple trying to be self-sufficient with a small farm in their back garden, ran on the BBC from 1975 to 1978, and has been frequently repeated. It also starred Richard Briers, Felicity Kendal, Penelope Keith and Paul Eddington.
