Comedian's racism goes viral
Footage of an American comedian unleashing a racist tirade at a colleague on stage has gone viral.
In the name of comedy, Tony Hinchcliffe called compere Peng Dang a ‘filthy little fucking chink’, just moments after being brought on stage.
The comment drew cheers and applause from the audience at the Big Laugh comedy club in Austin, Texas.
He then went on to call them ‘race traitors’ for laughing at his jokes, before adopting a ‘comedy’ Chinese accent to say things like: ‘Oh, you want extra soy sauce’.
Dang, who moved to the US from China a decade ago, at the age of 25, posted the footage on social media with the simple comment: ‘Last week in Austin, I got to bring up Tony Hinchcliffe. This is what he said. Happy Asian (AAPI) Heritage Month!’
The clip has been viewed almost a million times on Twitter alone, and attracted more than 1,200 comments such as: ‘Wants so bad to be "canceled" so he can talk about it on rogan but is just racist and has no bits’; ‘that was straight out of the White Supremacist 101 handbook. No comedy at all but he hit on racial slurs,’ and ‘what a horrible piece of shit. Cruel, racist, and boring.’
Hinchcliffe performed in the UK in 2019, including a week at the Soho Theatre, with a show entitled ‘not for the easily offended’
He has a Netflix comedy special, One Shot, to his name, which was shot in one continuous take 2016, has worked as a staff writer on Comedy Central roasts, and is a regular guest on The Joe Rogan Experience.
Hinchcliffe has not yet publicly responded to the widespread condemnation of his racist comments
