Baftas for Aisling Bea and Jamie Demetriou
Aisling Bea and Jamie Demetriou have picked up Bafta awards tongiht.
Bea won the coveted Breakthrough Talent award for her writing debut This Way Up at the academy’s craft awards.
The accolade for the Channel 4 comedy-drama is her first honour from Bafta.
Earlier this week, Bea revealed that she had been cast in the reboot of Home Alone, the filming of which has been put on hold because of coronavirus.
Demetriou won the comedy writing award for his Channel 4 comedy, Stath Lets Flats.
He took to Twitter to thank his director and producers at Roughcut after scooping the honour.
Demetriou edged out fellow nominees Danny Brocklehurst (Brassic), Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) and Sam Leifer and Tom Basden (Plebs) to scoop the honour.
Meanwhile. Peep Show co-creator Jesse Armstrong, won the award for drama writing for the the satirical American comedy-drama series Succession.
Tonight’s ceremony, hosted by Stephen Mangan, was conducted virtually because of the Covid-19 lockdown.
