Comedians join Celebrity Antiques Road Trip
Comics Phill Jupitus, Shappi Khorsandi, Jamali Maddix and Bobby Mair are all taking part in the next series of Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.
Red Dwarf stars Craig Charles and actor Robert Llewellyn will also be teamed up for one episode of the BBC Two show in which stars try to make the biggest profit buying and selling antiques.
Khorsandi must compete against her friend, the children’s book writer and TV personality Konnie Huq, while Jupitus will be pitched against performance poet John Cooper Clark. Art buff Jupitus picked out an illustration ,with strong local appeal as part of his episode, but found his choice lost its relevance when it was auctioned in a different part of the country.
While Maddix and Mair are pitched against each other, Bobby Davro is up against his panto pal Sheila Ferguson, and Men Behaving Badly actor Neil Morrissey will be reunited with former Royal Marine Commando JJ Chalmers, following their BBC Two pilgrimage to Camino de Santiago
In each episode, the two competing celebrities set out with £400 and a classic car to find antique bargains and make the biggest profit by selling them at auction, with all final profits donated to Children in Need.
John Redshaw, series producer at STV Productions, said: ' We have a brilliant line-up of competing stars. Some of the more profitable buys include a 200-year old love letter illustrated with watercolour images spotted by Robert Llewellyn which achieves a pretty penny at auction.’
Celebrity Antiques Road Trip returns on Monday.
