Nazi pug guy Count Dankula hits the comedy circuit
The Nazi Pug: Joke Or Hate?
Markus Meechan was the YouTuber convicted of spreading menacing, anti-Semitic and racist material by teaching his pug to give a Nazi salute in a video that repeatedly contained the phrase 'gas the Jews'. But Meechan, who goes by the name Count Dankula online, claims the video was a joke.
In this iPlayer documentary he goes into London’s comedy scene, to see what stand-ups can get away with, why there’s a backlash against ‘edgy’ humour, and whether his case is a freedom of speech issue.
It's been made by filmmaker Dan Murdoch, while producers include Andrew Doyle, the comedian behind the woke parody Titiana McGrath. Watch here.
