Who's judging Dave's Edinburgh Comedy Award
The judges have been announced for Dave’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards, just as the Fringe gets under way.
The 2019 panel consists of seven professional journalists and TV workers and three comedy fans representing the public.
Dominic Maxwell The Times’s theatre and comedy critic, is the chair and the others are:
- Gerald Casey - Channel Director, Gold
- Hannah Duncombe - Producer, NIT/CPL Productions
- Tristram Fane Saunders - Commissioning Editor- Culture Desk, The Telegraph
- Paul Fleckney - The Guardian
- Suzy Grant - Producer, BBC Studios Comedy
- Nosheen Iqbal - The Observer
- Angela Jariwala - Public Competition Winner
- Gráinne Smyth - Public Competition Winner
- Michael Thomson - Public Competition Winner
There will be no changes to the judging or the awards categories on previous years. This year more than 750 eligible comedy shows will be seen by the team with nominations announced on Wednesday August, 21 and the winners revealed on Saturday August 24.
Best comedy show wins £10,000 with £5,000 for best newcomer - with a cash prize and for the Panel Prize.
