Red Dwarf team reunite - for an advert
The cast of Red Dwarf have reunited for a new advert for the AA.
In the commercial, Lister, Rimmer, Cat and Kryten panic when Starbug breaks down in a hostile alien environment.
But they used the AA’s app, and help is soon on the way. The spot ends with the tagline: ‘The future of breakdown, today’ as the theme tune kicks in.
Tracy Abraham, marketing director at the breakdown service, said: ‘This campaign signals a bold new chapter for the AA in our story of digital transformation.’
The Stellar Rescue advert, which launched on Monday night, could explain what the show’s four stars – Craig Charles, Danny John-Jules, Chris Barrie and Robert Llewellyn – were doing together in London recently.
John-Jules posted a ‘family portrait’ of the team together asking his social media followers if they could guess the significance of the photo.
He also said that a 13th series of the comedy was pencilled in to be filmed later this year.
Although he admitted details were still under negotiation, he said he was confident that it would be happening.
‘All we know is it's going to be done by the end of the year. We haven’t seen a script yet, it's all in negotiation,’ he told The Sun. ‘But I'm never worried about Red Dwarf. I've never been so comfortable in a gig.’
