Eddie Izzard announces Fringe dates
Eddie Izzard has announced three preview shows of his forthcoming Wunderbar tour at the Edinburgh Fringe.
The comic will be performing at Gilded Balloon Teviot on August 12, 13 and 14.
As previously announced, he will also be doing a one-off work-in-progress reading of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations as part of the programme at Assembly
Izzard previously recorded an audiobook version of the story after discovering he had the same birthday as the novelist. ‘I’m exactly 150 years younger than Dickens to the day,’ he said. ‘7th February 1812, 7th February 1962. Doesn’t mean anything, but it means slightly more than being 147 years and 12 days.’
The Wunderbar tour proper kicks off at his home town of Bexhill-on-Sea on September 15 (Dates).
It is his first new show in five years and is billed as his last before he goes into politics.
The previous show, Force Majeure made comedy history as the most extensive stand-up show ever, by playing in 45 countries and all 50 of the United States – and in four languages,
Izzard said he dreamt up Wunderbar while improvising in French atop a floating theatre on the Seine, then developed it in Berlin through improvisation in German before taking its final form in English.
Tickets for the Fringe run are on sale now.
