The worrier returns

This week's comedy on TV and radio

Pick of the week's comedy on TV and radio:

Monday July 1

GET SOME IN: This largely forgotten sitcom about National Service life in the RAF was broadcast on ITV between 1975 and 1978 - and has never been repeated since. Possibly because terms like ‘poofhouse’ were bandied about as insults. But now vintage channel Talking Pictures TV has blown the dust of the films for a new airing, with episodes every weekday at 6pm. Scripts were by John Esmonde and Bob Larbey, the team behind Brush Strokes and The Good Life, and the cast includes Robert Lindsay. Talking Pictures TV, 6pm

Tuesday July 2

CRASHING: American comedian Pete Holmes returns for the third and final series of his semi-autobiographical comedy about making his way through the world of stand-up. Season three finds a reinvigorated Pete fresh off a two-month college comedy tour, returning to New York with newfound confidence in his comedic abilities. No longer crashing on other people’s couches, he moves into his own place and re-enters the NYC comedy circuit… but he soon discovers that just because he’s got a foot in the door, it doesn’t mean he’s ahead of the pack. Sky Atlantic, 10.10pm

Wednesday July 3

JON RICHARDSON: ULTIMATE WORRIER: The comic is back to analyse, assess and log a whole new batch of his many, many worries. Joe Wilkinson, Kiri Pritchard-McClean and Richardson’s wife Lucy Beaumont are guests this week. And those joining him over the subsequent nine episodes will include Russell Howard, Roisin Conaty, Lolly Adefope, Lou Sanders and Josh Widdicombe. Dave, 10pm

Thursday July 4

RICH HALL’S (US) BREAKDOWN For Independence Day, and as the 2020 race for the White House revs up, American comic Rich Hall returns for another look at the state of US politics, via stand-up, sketch and interview. BBC INTRODUCING RADIO 4 COMEDY AWARD 2019: Never mind this year’s awful designed-by-committee title, this is the prestigious BBC New Comedy Award that has previously given priceless early career boosts to the likes of Alan Carr, Rhod Gilbert and Lucy Beaumont. The first heat of this year’s contest, recorded at Up The Creek in South London, goes out tonight, hosted by Jen Brister. Radio 4 Extra, 10.30pm

RICK AND MORTY: The third season of the cult animation starts on E4 with one of the best-regarded episodes, The Rickshank Rickdemption, set in the Galactic Federation's prison. E4, 11.20pm
