Ed Byrne joins Alan McGee biopic
Ed Byrne has joined the cast of Creation Stories, the new biopic of indie record label boss Alan McGee.
Written by Irvine Welsh and executive produced by Danny Boyle, the movie follows the ‘near bankruptcy, pills, thrills, spats, prats, success, excess and breakdowns’ of McGee’s life.
Trainspotting’s Ewen Bremner plays the cult figure, who managed The Jesus and Mary Chain, and co-founded the Creation label at 23, promoting the likes of My Bloody Valentine and Primal Scream. He suffered a drug-induced breakdown, but climbed back to sobriety, to oversee Oasis' rise to megastardom.
This will be Byrne's screen acting role since appearing in the 2010 movie adaptation of Tony Hawks' real-life travel story Round Ireland With A Fridge. However, producers have not yet revealed what part he plays.
Also joining the cast are Home's Rufus Jones, Zapped's Paul Kaye, plus Jason Isaacs, Perry Benson, Thomas Turgoose, Steven Berkoff, and Mel Raido
Creation Stories is being Directed by Nick Moran, who previously starred in Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
