David Walliams to star in a Cinderella sequel
David Walliams and Sian Gibson are to star in a sequel to the Cinderella story for Sky One.
Cinderella: After Ever After – which also stars Celia Imrie and Sir Tom Courtenay – will take up the story after the fairytale ends,
Cinderella (Gibson) has just married Prince Charming (Walliams), but has a rude awakening when she realises married life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be when you have an image-obsessed, floss-dancing, hip-hop rapping husband.
Walliams – whose production company King Bert is making the hour-long show – said: ‘We have assembled a magnificent cast and crew for this one-off family comedy film. It promises to be a real treat.’
And Sky comedy chief Jon Mountague added: ‘It’s a fairytale script and a fairytale cast. Christmas with a twist from the incomparable David Walliams.’
Cinderella: After Ever After is co-written by The Dawson Brothers, whose credits include Big School, That Mitchell & Webb Look and Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
Filming is currently under way, and the show will air this Christmas.
Courtenay plays The King and Imrie is Cinderella’s evil stepmother Madame Blackheart.
