Kim Cattrall drops out of Joe Wilkinson's sitcom
Kim Cattrall has dropped out of Joe Wilkinson and Diane Morgan new sitcom The Cockfields.
The Sex And The City star had been due to play the stepmum of Wilkinson’s character Simon in the series, which is being made for UKTV’s Gold channel.
However, the broadcaster says Cattrall is ‘no longer available due to some unforeseen scheduling issues’.
She will be replaced by Sarah Parish, below, whose recent credits include W1A, Trollied and Broadchurch.
Wilkinson wrote The Cockfields with David Earl – the Derek actor best known as Brian Gittins on the comedy circuit.
The three 30-minute episodes revolve around his character Simon, taking girlfriend Donna (Morgan) back home to the Isle of Wight for the very first time to mark his 40th birthday.
The star-studded cast also includes Sue Johnson as Simon’s doting mother Sue and Bobby Ball is his controlling stepdad, Ray. Nigel Havers plays his biological dad Larry, who has a new girlfriend, played by Parish.
The cast also includes Ben Rufus Green as Simon’s Alan Titchmarsh-obsessed stepbrother David and comic Jeff Mirza as the Cockfields’ oddball handyman neighbour Andre.
UKTV’s Pete Thornton, who commissioned the show, has said: ‘The Cockfields is a thoroughly modern family comedy about a relatable shared experience – that weekend back at home when your no doubt well-meaning relatives just get more and more annoying with every passing hour. .’
The series will air later this year.
