First look at Fleabag series 2
The BBC has released the first image from the second series of Fleabag.
The Corporation’s press office tweeted the above image of Phoebe Waller-Bridge in a plunging top with the caption: ‘Back to black?’
Work began on the acclaimed BBC Three comedy this summer with Andrew Scott – best known for playing Moriarty to Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock – joining the cast.
Otherwise, the core supporting cast of Olivia Colman, Sian Clifford, Bill Paterson, Brett Gelman, Jenny Rainsford and Hugh Skinner will all return.
Creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge has said: ‘I can’t believe they let me do this again I’m so happy to be back with the incredible Fleabag team and I’m as surprised as anyone about where this series has taken us… thank God for Andrew Scott.’
Shane Allen, the BBC’s controller of comedy commissioning added: ‘The series 2 scripts are knockout - sparkling with Phoebe’s unique voice that combines a whip-smart complexity of character with pin sharp funny lines scattered everywhere.
‘The themes of this series are very distinct from the first series which delivers on the challenge Phoebe set herself. It’s a superb team and cast from top to bottom and with Fleabag you can never escape a reference to the bottom.’
The new series will air next year, three years after the first became a hit.
In the interim, Waller-Bridge has played the role of L3-37 in Solo: A Star Wars Story, and has written and executive produced the acclaimed thriller Killing Eve.
