Milton Jones to star in his first panto
Milton Jones is to star in his first panto.
And he’s going in at the deep end – appearing in a version of Peter Pan that will tour arenas this December.
The comic will play Mr Smee, the simple-minded sidekick of the villainous Captain Hook – who will be played by Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp.
He said: ‘It’s my first venture into a Christmas show and what a spectacular this will be! I love the fact it is so huge and something completely different, whilst still having an element of traditional Christmas fun.’
The show will play the Belfast SSE Arena on December 15 and 16, Leeds First Direct Arena on December 21-23 and Manchester Arena on December 28 and 29.
Peter Pan: The Arena Adventure played London and Birmingham last year, again with Kemp as Hook and with Bradley Walsh as Mr Smee.
Matt Knight will be reprising his title role of Peter Pan, while the cast of more than 100 includes circus performers, Irish dancers and also children from local Pauline Quirke academies.
The show also features a 23ft animatronic crocodile, a life-size Jolly Roger Galleon sailing around the arena in front of a 10,000-gallon water wall and the highest human Peter Pan flight ever staged.
Kemp said: ’It is so much more than a panto. It’s completely different and the special effects are astonishing.’
Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday.
