In memory of the suffragettes

8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown is to do an all-female show to mark 100 years since some women in the UK won the right to vote. 

Channel 4 have commissioned the special alongside a new 12-part series from programme-makers Zeppotron.

The production company’s managing director, Ruth Phillips, said: ‘It's going to be a real privilege for us to make this one off all-women version of the show, to celebrate 100 years of female suffrage.

‘Over the years 8 Out Of 10 Cats has had the opportunity to help launch and nurture the TV careers of a wealth of brilliant female comedy talent on Channel 4, so it feels like a natural extension for us to now provide an all-female platform for many of the funniest stars of the comedy world. 

‘We like to think that if Emmeline Pankhurst were to have a favourite comedy panel show with cats in the title, it would probably be this one.’

The line for the one-off special will be announced later.
