Giving people a voice...
This week's comedy on demand.
Overheard
In this new web series, Radio 4 sketch performers The Pin – aka Ben Ashenden & Alexander Owen – film people in the street and dub comedy dialogue over them. There might be dubious ethics behind using unwitting members of the public in this way, but it is funny…
Here's episode 1:
Capital
This Brexit-inspired sitcom is back for the second part of its series from Monday, with the first of three new episodes. In the meantime, a recap of the first three, which were originally released in the summer, was released this week. It stars Harry Enfield as the Minister For Capital Punishment, newly restored to the UK on the narrowest of majorities after a divisive referendum.
As the real-world government plunge with an unearned, brave-faced conviction into the minefield of Brexit, so too do we see our fictional civil servants scrambling ever closer to their first hanging on Christmas Day, plagued by problems of their own making.
The rest of the cast comprises Charlotte Ritchie, Liam Williams Matilda Wnek from sketch duo Beard and Adam Drake. It was devised by the cast, Freddy Syborn, who co-wrote Bounty Hunters with Jack Whitehall, and and Drake's Goose collaborator, Ben Rowse
It's available from all the usual podcast outlets, including iTunes
Caravan Of Love
Stand-up Scott Bennett has released this full-length pilot of a mockumentary sitcom based on a couple with a love a caravanning… or 'touring' as they prefer to call it. We meet them on holiday in North Yorkshire as they find innovative uses for space, struggle to get any electrical devices to work and speak of the joys of their lifestyle.
Craig Ferguson: Tickle Fight
The Scottish comic once known as Bing Hitler returns to stand-up for his first special since quitting his job as a late-night talk show host.
Recorded at Montreal's Just For Laughs festival, the comic discusses '70s porn, Japanese toilets and brushes with low-level crime.
It's available on Netflix now – and here is our review from the night of the taping (when it had a different title).
