Christmas offerings include Inside No 9 and the Boosh

The BBC is to release some of its recent comedy hits as free-to-watch box sets on iPlayer.

Programmes to be put on offer the Christmas include the entire series of Inside Number 9, Fleabag and the first series of The Mighty Boosh

The move to put the shows – as well as several dramas – on to its on-demand service could be seen as a response to paid-for on-demand services such as Netflix and Amazon Primes.

Charlotte Moore, director of content at the BBC, said: ‘There is no need to go anywhere else this Christmas because we have an even richer offer across the BBC than ever before. Sit back and indulge, as we curate some of the most loved shows you may have missed first time round or favourites you want to watch again.’

The full list of comedy programmes that will be available on BBC iPlayer from December 16 is:
