'Weird in an Adult Swim kinda way...'
The week's comedy on demand.
Mr Biffo’s Found Footage
Paul Rose, writer of Pudsey The Dog: The Movie (one of the worst movies ever made, according to Rotten Tomatoes) got bit more creative with this surreal series of bizarrely edited clips, backed by Charlie Brooker, who acts as executive producer.
He raised almost £24,000 via crowdfunding for Mr Biffo’s Found Footage, a series which ended with an ambitious 20-minute action movie entitled The Trojan Arse Protocol last weekend.
‘It isn’t for everyone,’ he admits. ’It’s weird in a late night, Adult Swim, kind of way – but nobody in the UK is brave enough to make shows like this anymore. Found Footage has shown that there is an audience hungry enough for this kind of absurdist humour.’
The full series, including the finale, can be seen here.
News-ish with Seann Walsh and Mark Simmons
From the Fubar radio station, this is a current affairs comedy show from two comedy pals who know very little about current affairs – and is pitched as ‘Newsnight meets An Idiot Abroad’.
Local news comes from Seann’s mum and sports news from his dad, which gives an idea of the constrained global vision of the show. There’s also a guest comedian each episode.
It’s on iTunes here.
Kiri Pritchard McLean: Hysterical Woman
The Welsh comic’s debut stand-up show combines a political call to tackle ingrained misogyny in the world, with the smart anthropological points and brutal jokes covered with a disarming smile and engaging manner. It’s just been released to subscribers of comedy-on-demand service NextUp here.
