Joe Wilkinson has joined the cast of Sky One’s revivial of the Moomins

The comic will play the butterfly collecting Hemulen when the animated show, entitled Moominvalley, airs late next year.

As previously announced, Matt Berry plays Moominpappa with Rosamund Pike as Moominmamma and Taron Egerton as Moomintroll.

The cast also includes Richard Ayoade as The Ghost; Warwick Davis as Sniff; Kate Winslet as Mrs Fillyjonk.

Also announced as joining the ensemble  today are  Bel Powley, from Benidorm, playing Little My and Edvin Endrem from Vikings, playing Snufkin 

Lucy Murphy, head of kids content at Sky, said: ‘With their beguiling adventures, magical setting and a cast of fantastical creatures, Tove Jansson’s beautiful books have been a well-deserved family favourite for decades and we can’t wait to bring the joyous Moomin world to Sky families.’

The Finnish-British production is directed by Oscar-winner Steve Box,who previously helmed Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
