Harry Hill's prison sitcom gets a full series
Harry Hill’s Radio 4 sitcom Life On Egg has been picked up for a full series.
In it, he plays the governor of Britain’s most remote prison, dealing with ‘escapes, inspectors and spooky goings-on’.
The surreal comedy is written by Dan Maier, who was a writer on Harry Hill’s TV Burp for a decade. He also co-wrote A Touch of Cloth with Charlie Brooker.
The show was one of a number of comedies that have been picked up for full series following pilots last year.
Other shows picked up include Alone, written by Moray Hunter and starring Angus Deayton, about five single, middle aged neighbours living in flats in a converted house in North London.
The rest are Gaby Roslin’s Gaby’s Talking Pictures, Jake Yapp Saves Humanity in 28 Minutes, and Jeremy and Rebecca Front in Jack & Millie.
Julia Davis’ Couples, in which she stars alongside Marc Wootton, and Josh Howie’s Losing It are among those returning with second series.
There will also be new series of The Missing Hancocks, which will restore more of the lost recordings, and Sue Limb’s sitcom Gloomsbury, which will air its fifth and final series.
Plus Sarah Kendall - Australian Trilogy and Small Scenes, formerly late night comedies, will return but in the 6.30pm slot.
