Police probe claims comic sent 'disgusting' texts

Allegations made against award-winner Scott Gibson

Stand-up Scott Gibson is being investigated by police over reports that he sent 'disgusting' sexual message to female comedians.

The Daily Record has reported that four comics made complaints after receiving the unwanted texts.

A police spokeswoman said: 'Allegations of inappropriate messages have been received and inquiries are ongoing.'

Gibson issued a statement via his publicist which said: 'I would like to state for the record that the police have never contacted me on any matter.'

The comedian was named best newcomer at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe with a show about how he survived a life-threatening aneurysm.

The 32-year-old is due to return to this year’s festival with a show called Like Father, Like Son.
