Scot Squad go back on the beat
Police sitcom Scot Squad has been commissioned for a fourth series, its creator has announced.
Joe Hullait tweeted yesterday: ‘In case you didn’t get from my massive hinting, we’re currently making a 4th series of @scotsquad.’
He’d previously told his 3,000 Twitter followers: ‘I’m really disappointed I tweeted about the new series I'm working on earlier and nobody paid any attention’ – though it’s not clear that he did actually tweet anything else about the show.
The mockumentary, starring Jack Docherty as Chief Commissioner Cameron Miekelson, has aired on BBC One in Scotland since 2104. The last series started in January following a Christmas special.
Earlier in the year, Hullait – who also narrates the show – suggested the sitcom could make the transition to the stage, following the success of live versions of Still Game, Burniston, and Gary: Tank Commander.
He said: ‘I think the cast would all rise to the challenge and build on their roles in a live environment. They all have a lot of experience performing live.’
The regular cast also includes James Allenby-Kirk, Sally Reid, Karen Bartke, Chris Forbes, Grado and Darren Connell.
Scot Squad led the nominations in the Scottish Comedy Award shortlist announced earlier this week, with four nods - the same as Two Doors Down.
