The three-year-old up for a comedy award
A three-year-old girl has been nominated for a Scottish Comedy Award against some of the most established names in the business
Isla Nelson is up for best actress for the online videos she makes with her father, the comedian Mark Nelson – who is up for best headliner.
She actually started making the films for BBC Scotland when she was just two.
Isla has been ranked against Jane McCarry, Doon Mackichan and Karen Bartke – the stars of the biggest Scottish comedy shows of last year: Still Game, Two Doors Down and Scot Squad respectively.
All three shows are also nominated for best show, alongside Frankie Boyle’s American Autopsy,
Two Doors Down and Scot Squad lead the nominations, with four nods apiece
In the best actor category, Chris Forbes and Darren Connell have been recognised for Scot Squad alongside Alex Norton for Two Doors Down, whose writers Gregor Sharp and Simon Carlyle complete the show’s quartet of nominations.
The best actor category is completed by Ford Kiernan – meaning his Still Game co-creator Greg Hemphill has missed out.
Awards will be handed out on August, 1 the night before the Edinburgh Fringe.
More than 170 nominations were received from across the Scottish comedy industry in January and subsequently whittled down by a panel of 10 comedians. Now the winners are decided by a vote of those who work in the Scottish comedy industry – but not fans.
Special awards for Lifetime Achievement and Outstanding Contribution, decided by the nominations panel will be announced shortly.
