Stars discuss reviving the sitcom

Miranda Hart’s eponymous sitcom could be making an unexpected return.

Co-star Tom Ellis, who plays Miranda’s husband Gary, told Radio 2 earlier this week: ‘We may be revisiting Miranda in the next couple of years.’

And now The Sun quotes an unnamed source saying the pair ‘are meeting in the next fortnight to discuss what a new series would look like and how they’d take on the story of her and Gary’.

Miranda ended on New Year’s Day 2015, with more than seven million people watching the two lead characters finally tie the knot.

Last month, Hart said she had been in talks about making a movie based on Miranda, but said: ‘The transition from a studio sitcom to a film never works’. However, she added: ‘I think you could do married life as a sitcom, with Miranda and Gary and see how they're getting on.’

Hart is currently starring as the tyrannical Miss Hannigan in the West End revival of Annie.
