Comedy writer pens Alice In Brexitland spoof
TV comedy writer Lucien Young has written a political spoof of Alice In Wonderland, based around Brexit.
Alice In Brexitland is to be published on June 1 – a week before the general election – and will feature illustrations by Ollie Mann in the style of the original Tenniel drawings.
In the book, Alice follows Dave the rabbit ‘down the Brexithole’ where she meets characters such as Nigel Farage as the grinning Cheshire Twat, the ‘Corbyn-pillar,’ smoking a hookah ‘and being no help to anyone’, Theresa May as the ‘terrifying Queen of Heartlessness,’ and Trumpty Dumpty, ‘sitting on a wall he wants the Mexicans to pay for’.
The book will be released by Ebury, with Young – who has written on Siblings and Murder In Successville – using the nom de plume Leavis Carroll
He said: ‘It's been a delight getting the chance to balance the absurdity of modern British politics with the relative sanity of Lewis Carroll.
‘I'm excited for people to read the book and, if its release should happen to bring down the government, this will all have been worthwhile.’
