The trials of Ross Noble
Ross Noble is competing in one of the world’s most challenging motorcycle trials for a documentary for the Dave channel.
The comic today lines up for the start of the Scottish Six Days Trial, believed to be the oldest event of its type anywhere.
And he admitted that taking part could be a risk – just before he starts rehearsals for his role as Igor in the Mel Brooks musical, Young Frankenstein.
‘If I break one of my legs, I’m in trouble,’ he told the Aberdeen Press and Journal, ’as I have to dance.
‘Mel Brooks is just amazing – he is funny all the time – and it is a real treat to be working with him. But he doesn’t know I’m taking part, so I’ll have to be careful.’
And he explained that he practised for the event by taking his bike to an ice rink ‘where I was slipping and sliding all over the place, then I got a load of rocks from a quarry and put them in my garden to have a go on those. I even tied a smoke grenade to my bike, so I would know what it was like if the conditions were misty.’
A total of 274 riders are taking part in the challenging event, which sets off from Fort William.
Noble previously made two series of his Freewheeling show for Dave, when he went around the country on his motorbike, with his route determined by the suggestions of his 500,000 twitter followers.
Here he is with the rest of the Young Frankenstein cast: Hadley Fraser, Lesley Joseph and Summer Strallen:
